  In September 2022, the SAO launched a new series of online events. SAO Conference 2024: Keynote Speaker and Clinicians

Keynote Speaker Gilles Comeau Gilles Comeau received his Ph.D. in the Foundations of Music Education in 1995 from the University of Montreal. There he continued his Post-Doctoral studies in piano pedagogy from 1995-1997 with Marc Durand and Gilles Manny. Currently a Professor in the School of Music of the University of Ottawa, he co-ordinates both the piano pedagogy and the music education sectors. He has set up many multidisciplinary research groups, all studying various aspects of piano learning and piano teaching, and has authored many books including Piano Pedagogy: A Research and Information Guide Comparing Dalcroze, Orff and Kodàly

Clinician Applications

Planning to attend the 2024 SAO Conference? Interested in teaching a group class on Student Day? We are looking for violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar and flute teachers interested in teaching a class or two on Saturday, November 2 for Student Workshop Day. Session Proposals

Announcing the 2024 SAO Conference call for session proposals.   At the 2024 conference, we want to host sessions on a variety of topics. Applications to be a session host are open to all SAO members, as well as all Canadian SAA members attending the SAO conference in person. Each session will be scheduled for 60 minutes during the conference weekend. All session presenters are encouraged to include discussion time in their preparation. Session topic proposals can include any point of interest from the following categories: Suzuki Family Education Suzuki philosophy Instrument specific pedagogy Teaching strategies

July 2024 – Area Reports

416 Summer Camp at the Miles Nadal JCC We are excited to offer our 2024 Suzuki Summer Music and Arts Camp, now in its 13th year at the Miles Nadal JCC in downtown Toronto. Our music camp offers instruction for Suzuki violin, viola, cello, and piano students - Twinkle level through Book 8, alongside of varied choices of age-appropriate enrichment classes for ages 4 – 14.
