String Instrument Care for parents (Saturday) and String Instruments 101 for teachers (Sunday) with Anna Reusing from The SoundPost Ottawa

In this session, Anna will review the details of how to properly maintain and adjust a bridge, how to install strings securely, and how to avoid common minor mishaps with bows. They will also discuss how to identify issues and make adjustments to violin setup, how much humidity is needed to sustain a violin, and the common issues that arise when a violin and/or bow is not maintained properly. 
Anna Reusing (they/them) is the Operations Manager at the Sound Post in Ottawa. They have over 7 years of experience working with orchestral string instruments and 20 years of experience playing violin/viola.

In our session, I’ll lead teachers through a series of improvisation games and activities to nurture the creative parts of *teachers’* brains — games and exercises that can also be used with students! Teachers benefit in two ways: 1. They reap the benefits of creativity themselves, getting the chance to play with their colleagues in this mixed instrument class. 2. They learn fun improvisation games that they can use with their own students or in private lessons. No previous improvisation experience is required.
